[ATOM] Microsoft's potential fintech shopping cart
Wow at this rate, Microsoft could add Block ($48B), Affirm ($14B) and Bill.com ($15B) to their cart for not much more than Activision ($70B) and get themselves on their way to building a decent fourth payment network option and a major business fintech roll-up.
I guess technically fifth payment network*. Always forget about Discover despite them having comparable payment volume to Amex because they have no real SMB presence.
The consumer flavor of this roll-up would be to buy Nubank ($33B) & then launch in US with GDOT for banking ($2B), SoFi for lending ($11B), Robinhood for investing ($11B), Wise for money transfer ($9B), Lemonade for insurance ($2B). Maybe add in a few < $1B fintech SPACs for fun.
Yes, I know this is a regulatory minefield that doesn't have any real likelihood of coming to pass, but it's just another view of how much change we've seen for public valuations of some of these fintech names vs just a few months ago.
