[ATOM] Why don't joint credit cards exist?
I'm genuinely curious why joint credit cards have faded out of existence while primary user / authorized user is now the de facto choice for partner accounts and credit building. There isn't a ton of great logic out there behind why joint credit cards fell out of favor.
I guess there's actually probably a few variants of this use case, assuming it's always tied to a joint bank account faor payment:
A: Joint credit cards
B: Individual cards
C: Primary User / Authorized User
I guess I'm scratching my head on why (A) isn't an option that ever became popular. It's likely the most intuitive one for users - we're jointly responsible for spend (with visibility) and jointly responsible for payment, which all comes from our joint account.
And is it really harder to underwrite a joint credit card than primary user / auth user when cards can distinguish purchases & payment is coming from joint acct anyway? Side note: how can you improve credit score as an auth user if you're not really responsible for payment?
Maybe I'm missing something on the regulatory compliance or underwriting logic side. Or maybe I'm wrong that about what's most intuitive. If it's just that primary user / authorized user is "good enough" I truly think there's room to innovate. Interested to learn more!
